There are two major professional tennis associations: ATP and WTA. The ATP (Association of Tennis Professionals) is the men's tennis association. The WTA (Women's Tennis Association) is the women's equivalent of the ATP.

Although tennis tournaments take place basically all year, we are only going to focus on the major tournaments. One such event is the Grand Slam Tournament. It is a series of four individual tournaments.

Australian Open: This event takes place in January. It is the first tournament in the Grand Slam series.

Roland Garros: The second tournament in the series takes place from the end of May to the beginning of June. It is also called the French Open.

Wimbledon: The third tournament in the series takes place from the end of June to the beginning of July. This is probably one of the most popular in the series for spectators.

U.S. Open: This tournament is played from the end of August to the beginning of September. It is the closing tournament for the Grand Slam Tournament Series.
